TOMMY WALSH, KATIE MERRICK & BILLY BYRNE AT SOLDIERS CHARITY STAND 1G50

This was a great day as the Army came to the Ideal Home Show.  This lovely girl, Katie had designed the Soldiers Charity stand. It was brilliant and you need to go and look for yourself.

IS THIS THE CHAIR MAN?

Lee Newton taking it easy.  Lee is the Managing Director of Media 10 who own the Ideal Home Show and who has in two years turned it right around.  He has been a great ally to the charity and is wearing a familiar tie.  He could be the Chairman of the Charity!! Perhaps I should ask him.

BUTTONS AND BADGES

Wonderful design by Katie, all the bits and pieces came from the London District tailor shops. Lee wants to expand this idea for next year so imagination can run riot.

SOLDIER CHALLENGE at HIGH NOON or RYAN'S EXPRESS

James  Vosper-Robinson looking suave with Sue Ryan and Jim Mee of Rat Race.  Soldier Challenge is going to be something different and with the date , 26 Mar rapidly approaching we have more than 700 runners all careering around London avoiding the TUC demonstration.  Could be interesting.

ISANDLWANA IMMORTELLES

On my way to Brecon for the Regional Meeting I had time to visit Brecon Cathedral where the colours or those that were left of them of the gallant 24th of Foot were laid up after the battle of Isandlawana in 1879. This the Zulu War and was a great deal more frightening than Afghanistan as 1450 soldiers were slaughtered in 45 minutes!! This picture are the remains of the original flowers which bedecked the surviving Queens Colour and are preserved in the cathedral.

BIG MUGSHOT AT WATERLOOOOO!

MONSTER POSTER AT WATERLOO

Here I am looking like a prune in front of this amazing poster at Waterloo.  This is going to be the event village for the Soldier Challenge which is coming up in a few weeks time.  The poster we have will be up for two months and cost next to nothing, a gift and someones' brainwave. Well done Guy!

YORKS HAND OVER CASH

Here I am receiving a most welcome cheque for £30,000 from the Yorkshire Regiment.  We depend on the regimental associations to make a contribution to the Soldiers Charity.  Normally this is about £.5million and it is a hell of a help.  Good to be with the old regiment and with me is David O'Kelly , the Regimental Secretary and who I knew years ago in Bosnia. Needs a haircut!!
